5 tips for earning money from Data School's affiliate program šŸ’°

You've joined Data Schoolā€™s affiliate program. Thatā€™s a great first step!

Now youā€™re likely wondering: How should I share my affiliate links, such that people actually click on them and buy a course?

Iā€™m here to help! Below are my 5 top tips for being an effective affiliate...

Tip #1: Share your link with people who trust you

Rather than trying to get random strangers to click your link (which usually wonā€™t work), itā€™s much better to share your link with people who already know and trust you!

This includes:

  • family and friends

  • coworkers

  • classmates

  • readers of your blog or newsletter

  • your followers on social media

  • members of an online community where youā€™re active

Keep in mind that some communities have a ā€œno affiliate linkā€ policy, so make sure that affiliate links are allowed before posting one!

Tip #2: Share your link when itā€™s relevant

The best time to share your link is when itā€™s relevant to a conversation.

If someone in your Slack team asks for Python course recommendations, thatā€™s a great time to recommend my Python course to them!

If someone on LinkedIn asks who they should follow in the data science space, mention me and link to my courses!

Tip #3: Donā€™t just share a link, tell a story

Someone who clicks on your link has likely never heard of Data School. They donā€™t (yet) trust me, but they do trust you!

Thatā€™s why itā€™s important to not only share your link, but also to share why you're recommending my course.

For example:

  • Why did you like my course?

  • What did it help you to achieve?

  • How might it benefit others?

Tip #4: Write a review of my course

The best way to share your affiliate link with strangers is to include it in a detailed review of my course. This has the potential for a lot of visibility (which means lots of clicks!), but it also requires more work.

For example, you could write a blog post comparing different Machine Learning courses you've taken (including mine). Talk about the pros and cons of each course, and share links to all of them. This builds trust with the reader, because youā€™re giving them valuable information and still letting them decide which course is best for them!

Donā€™t have a blog? Post your review on LinkedIn, record a YouTube video, or write a Twitter thread!

Tip #5: Share your link during launches and sales

Any time Iā€™m launching a new course or running a sale, Iā€™ll try to give you advanced notice. That way, you have time to prepare for how youā€™re going to promote the course!

This is a great time to share your link because everybody loves a good deal, and thereā€™s built-in urgency to buy immediately!
